Quick answer

What you need to know

Activate every Guidepost, trust the map markers, use the shield against early projectile traps and return later when an obstacle clearly needs bombs, Hammer, Dive or Faie's magic.

Seven Early Priorities

  • Activate every Guidepost for saving and later fast travel.
  • Check the map for chests, cracked walls and other marked points.
  • Use the Buckler instead of trying to dodge every arrow trap.
  • Buy a small recovery-item reserve before long ruins.
  • Form and upgrade magicite as the tutorial opens new slots.
  • Treat inaccessible nails, rocks and holes as later-tool reminders.
  • Collect Manuscripts in houses and studies while story access is open.

Early Equipment

Elliot begins with a Longsword, Buckler and Adventurer's Earrings. The early Huther shop adds recovery items, charms, an Empty Glass Vial and a Boomerang, while tutorial quests soon unlock a spear and bow.

Avoid Wasted Backtracking

Do not force obstacles that are missing an obvious interaction. The game repeatedly introduces tools that make earlier routes accessible, so activate the nearest Guidepost and return once the required ability is available.
